Updates and Future Events for Neonatal Rescue

BYU Photographer Documents Neonatal Rescue’s Work in Cambodia, Wins Award

While in Cambodia in October 2022, we were accompanied by BYU photographer Nate Edwards. His work was submitted to the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) photography awards. CASE annually recognizes the best photography from colleges and universities across the United States. In 2023, BYU Photo was honored with a Silver Circle of Excellence Award for its work representing Brigham Young University and Neonatal Rescue.

“I traveled to Cambodia with a non-profit organization that started at BYU, along with two current nursing students, as they went to Cambodia to help small and rural hospitals with a neonatal ventilator they had created. I managed two students who also went over to help film and photograph the experience for a branding campaign. We traveled to different hospitals around the capital to train, assist, and discuss the help that was offered through the ventilators. They are lightweight, easy to use, battery-operated, solar power rechargeable, rugged, and will work in any rough condition needed in these rural areas.” – Nate Edwards.

Neonatal Rescue Partners with Cherish Uganda to Provide Ventilators to Newborns

Neonatal Rescue is grateful to be working in Uganda once again! The founding team did the initial R&D for the Neolife in cooperation with medical professionals in Uganda. We are excited to finally place ventilators in country with Dr. Florence and Cherish Uganda.

Cherish Uganda is specifically working with children in Uganda and is currently building a new clinic to serve their needs. Amazing work, guys! #savingbabies

Neonatal Rescue to Expand Work in Asia and Africa with New Partnerships and Events

Rob Brown, Managing Director, will travel to Asia on September 18-25th to visit the Philippines and Cambodia to deliver more NeoLife Ventilators. The NeoLife Ventilator is a portable, battery-operated ventilator ideal for low-resource settings. Rob will meet with healthcare professionals to discuss using the NeoLife Ventilator and train them on using it.

In the Philippines, we are excited to meet with the Philippines Society of Newborn Medicine to discuss the implementation of the NeoLife ventilator across the country. Rob will be delivering 4 NeoLifes, which have been generously funded by one of our donors. These units will be used in a pilot program to familiarize the Doctors and Nurses with the device.

In addition to the Philippines, we will be delivering another NeoLife to Cambodia, and we are excited as these units were directly purchased by the Government of Cambodia, showing their support in the work we have been doing there. We will also work directly with the Ministry of Health to start a research study in conjunction with Curron Medical.

On October 13, 2023, Neonatal Rescue will host its first annual sporting clay tournament. The tournament will be held at Wasatch Wing and Clay and benefit Neonatal Rescue’s work to provide respiratory solutions to newborns in low-resource settings. Tickets are still available on Eventbrite.com.

In November 2023, Neonatal Rescue will travel to Zambia in collaboration with World Vision. World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization that works to improve the lives of children, families, and communities in need. Neonatal Rescue will work with World Vision to provide respiratory solutions to newborns in Zambia. We will host donors on this trip, combining work and some sightseeing.
